World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week: Global Cooperation Is Essential to Combat AMR
Aligned with the ICVV Congress Theme: “One Health: Pioneers of Transformation Toward a Safer Future, Empowered by an Innovative Vaccine Ecosystem.”
Coinciding with World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week, held annually from 18 to 24 November under the leadership of the World Health Organization (WHO) and in collaboration with CDC, FAO, and WOAH, the First International Congress of Vaccine and Vaccination (ICVV) underscores the urgent need for coordinated, multisectoral action to confront AMR.
According to recent WHO assessments, antimicrobial resistance is among the most significant global health threats of the coming decades, with the potential to drastically reduce the effectiveness of antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antiparasitic treatments. The CDC likewise identifies AMR as an escalating risk to human health, veterinary health, environmental integrity, and food security.
In alignment with its central theme—“One Health: Pioneers of Transformation Toward a Safer Future, Empowered by an Innovative Vaccine Ecosystem”—ICVV highlights the crucial role of vaccines, advanced diagnostics, surveillance systems, and responsible antimicrobial stewardship in mitigating AMR. This One Health approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, focusing on prevention, resilience, and innovation.
ICVV invites researchers, professionals, policymakers, and industry leaders to actively participate in this congress and contribute to safeguarding the future of global health.
