An educational booklet entitled “Understanding Plague” has been prepared and published by the Research and Technology Deputy of the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute to promote scientific awareness of plague and highlight the importance of preventing zoonotic diseases.

Plague is a bacterial infectious disease and an important zoonotic threat. Understanding its causative agent, transmission routes, diagnostic approaches, and prevention principles is essential for strengthening public health awareness and preparedness.

Developed as an educational and scientific resource, the booklet introduces plague and its relevant public health aspects. It may serve as a useful reference for researchers, students, professionals in public health and veterinary medicine, and others interested in infectious and zoonotic diseases.

The publication reflects the importance of raising awareness about emerging and re-emerging diseases and emphasizes the One Health approach, which recognizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health and the need for cross-sectoral collaboration to prevent and control diseases.
