World NTD Day
On the occasion of World Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Day, observed annually on January 30, the Secretariat of the International Congress of Vaccine and Vaccination (ICVV) highlights the global importance of combating NTDs through scientific innovation, vaccine development, and strong international collaboration.
NTDs affect more than one billion people worldwide, predominantly in low-resource regions where access to healthcare, diagnostics, and preventive tools is limited. Despite their profound impact on human health, economic stability, and social development, these diseases often receive insufficient attention, funding, and research prioritization.
ICVV emphasizes that modern vaccine science and integrated One Health strategies can significantly accelerate global progress in controlling and eventually eliminating many NTDs. Strengthening research infrastructures, expanding scientific education, and supporting cross-border collaborations are essential pillars for delivering effective, equitable solutions.
Through its global platform, ICVV remains committed to promoting awareness, advancing scientific dialogue, and encouraging innovative approaches that bridge the gap between research and real-world health needs.
"On this day, ICVV reaffirms that addressing NTDs is not only a scientific necessity but also a moral responsibility toward global health equity."
